About Helen
I have been teaching maths for about 25 years and always love the 'penny drop' moment and when my students realise that they can do maths after all, and actually enjoy it.
I spent about 8 years teaching GCSE and 'A' level maths at a college and then 17 years as a one-to-one maths adviser at a University where I helped students doing Pharmacy, Engineering, Economics, Biomed and Nursing with the maths modules on their degree course. I have also helped pupils doing key stage 2-4 (including GCSE) in one to one appointments. Further afield I worked on a hospital ship in Ghana and Liberia teaching maths to the crew's children onboard the ship.
